Case #1 · Month 1

The Vanishing Trophy of Maple Street

Summer, 1974. The night before the championship game…

Inside: the case letter from Chief Dot Marlowe

Evidence: a torn map fragment of the fairgrounds

Call card: one question only Witness G can answer

Field report: a postcard to mail back to HQ

How it works

One envelope a month. Twelve phone calls a year.

01

The Letter

Chief Dot Marlowe writes to your grandchild every month, pulling them deeper into a 12-month mystery set in the summer of 1974.

02

The Evidence

A physical clue every month — map fragments, suspect cards, newspaper clippings — things they'll be dying to tell you about.

03

The Call Card

One question only you can answer. You're Witness G, the key witness — and the case can't move forward until your grandchild calls you.

04

The Field Report

A postcard they mail back to HQ with their theory. They'll tell you all about it first — real mail, both directions.

You’re not just buying letters. You’re buying connection with your grandchild.

When you join, you answer ten questions about your own childhood — your street, your best friend, your favorite candy. Those memories get woven into the mystery itself. Your grandchild isn’t just reading a story; they’re investigating your past. And the only way to crack the case is to call you.

Our story

A small family business, built around the mailbox

A dad and his two kids running to the mailbox with letters

The Key Witness Club was started by a dad and his two kids, who love to read and believe the best stories are the ones you share.

We built this to bring people together through a love of reading — one letter, one clue, and one phone call at a time. Every case is written, packed, and mailed with care, because on the other end of that envelope is somebody’s grandchild running to the mailbox — and a grandparent waiting for the phone to ring.

Simple pricing

Twelve months. Twelve phone calls. $99.

That’s the complete 12-month mystery — $99 one-time. A full year of reasons for them to call. Your first letter shipswithin a week of joining.

Money-back guarantee. If the first letter doesn’t thrill them, we refund you.

Questions

Frequently asked

When does the first letter ship?

Your first letter ships within a week of joining. Your detective's 12-month journey starts with Month 1 — everyone begins at the beginning.

What ages is this for?

The mysteries are written for kids ages 7–10 — old enough to follow clues, young enough to still run to the mailbox.

How is each subscription personalized?

When you sign up, you answer questions about your grandchild and share ten of your own childhood memories. Names, towns, and those real memories are woven into the letters — no two grandparent-grandchild teams get exactly the same case.

What if my grandchild doesn't like it?

Every order comes with a money-back guarantee. If the first letter doesn't thrill them, tell us and we'll refund you — no return envelope required.

Do I need to do anything each month?

Just answer the phone. Each letter includes a Call Card with one question only you can answer — you're Witness G, a character in the mystery. We'll also email you a short briefing before each letter lands, so you're ready when they call.
